How would the Mediterranean have been told if were a woman to write the Odyssey?
What if were Penelope to create a narrative about this area?
These are the starting questions from which this project moves, which aims to find an alternative narrative to Homer’s Odyssey, starting from examples of women who have decided to stay in their “Ithaca” to complete the inner journey of transformation, to create a personal business that allows other people to be inspired.
“To undone an island” aims to highlight and enhance the experiences of women, or people who identify as such, who, from the private to the public sphere, are committed to building positive experiences for themselves and other people in the places where they live.
The project in its entirety is structured in 13 chapters representing 13 female voices, a symbolic and evocative number of characters present in the Homeric book.
The first stage of the journey is dedicated to Ithaca where I created a preface to this story between legend and reality, with figures that take us back to the Odyssey.
